Westchester Artists Receive $55K In Grant Money

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – More than two dozen art projects in Westchester County have been awarded Arts Alive Grants valued at more than $55,000.

According to a statement, the 29 projects are located throughout the county and include works by organizations like the Mount Vernon Public Library and the PJS Jazz Society.

The grants – awarded on Feb. 3 – come in three categories: Arts Alive Project Grants that provide financial and technical support to Westchester-based organizations and artists working at the grassroots level; Arts Alive Artist Grants, which support works that relate to the community “in a significant way;” and Arts-in-Education Grants, which are chosen by a panel of community members and art professionals, according to the statement.

Administered by ArtsWestchester, the grants are made possible by the Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, according to the statement. The grants are awarded with support from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
